Glorious Gladiolus nanus was a feature Flower for June ; this is my first time growing these smaller Gladioli , a genus that I love . The smaller , yet ample , Stems , are perfect for Bouquets and Wraps , whereas the larger Gladioli cultivars certainly have their place in fabulous arrangements in Urns and Churns .
I grew Gladiolus nanus ‘The Bride’ and ‘Halley’, both were absolutely beautiful and flowered generously , ‘The Bride’ being slightly more slender then ‘Halley’ , with creamy-white blooms with a hint of primrose-come-chartreuse in Her centre. Whereas ‘Halley’ was cream with a wonderful jam-like raspberry marking at Her centre , which paired beautifully with the Season’s Astrantias , as did the blush of the anthers of ‘The Bride’. I added Field Grasses to these to create some elegant , yet , simple Wraps (sometimes less is more).

I was thrilled to include my Gladiolus nanus ‘The Bride’ and ‘Halley’ in a selection of Wedding Flowers for the Family of the Groom to create their own glorious arrangements for the Church on their very special Day. The palette was peachy-pinks and whites , including some Ammi for tall and medium displays then feature Flowers for more colourful arrangements ; absolutely my pleasure !

June also saw the start of the Alstroemerias , I adore these Peruvian Lilies in all their glorious colour combinations . I was glad to be able to pair them with the sunny Foliage of my Smoke Bush , Cotinus ‘Golden Spirit’ , which really does speak for Itself !
